Cadillac Mountain Sunrise

This November for my birthday instead of any presents I decided I wanted to take a trip about two to three hours south of where I live in Maine. One of my bucket list items was to watch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, so what better way to kick off turning 19 then to go catch the sunrise on top of a mountain.
Cadillac Mountain is the first place to see the sunrise from October to May, it sit in Mount Desert Island as a part of Acadia National Park, a must go if you are ever in Maine, trust me.

Zach and I woke up around 4 am probably before then since I was excited, drove for about two hours we weren't worried about traffic because in Maine there is honestly never any, even in our bigger cities Bangor and Portland the traffic is never bad compared to growing up in the DC area, once we got to the mountain all we had to do was drive up to the top where they have a parking area and you are right there when  you get out of your car.

Now we went at the end of November and it was freezing cold and windy, I mean I had wool socks, a long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, LL Bean jacket and a blanket and still was freezing. It wasn't that crowded but there where more people then I expected to see for this time of the year, in the summer it's packed so if you plan on going be prepared for that.

There is something so magical about being with the person you love getting to see the sun before anyone else in the United States it was as if the world had stopped for a minute, one of those times you could relive every day.

We where too cold to stay after the sun came up, plus we went to bed at midnight from surprising my dad at the airport. If you are ever in Maine add this to one of the things you have to do. Even if it's the summer and it's technically not the first place to see the sunrise it still will be breath taking.

Tips & Tricks For Breaking In Heels

You bought a brand new pair of heels and are about to go out with the girls, date night, party or event, nothing is worse than having your night ruined from your feet hurting too much, trust me been there done that. I'm going to let you know my favorite tricks for breaking in my heels.

Socks. Socks. Socks.
This is my favorite way of breaking in heels, wear a pair of socks while wearing your heels around the house. This will give them an extra stretch and forgiving on your feet, no time for blisters. My boyfriend applauds me when my pajama pants, socks, and heels all match.

Hairdryer
Now you're thinking I'm crazy but these work, take it from a girl who loves heels but can not stand pain. While wearing your socks (you do not have to but I recommend it) focus on the stiffer parts of your shoe (especially where your toes are and heel) this will help stretch the material and form to your foot as it cools.

Band-aids
If you aren't going to be using socks I highly recommend you put band-aids on your feet while breaking them in, your feet will thank you.

Water & Ice
Taking a zip lock bag filling it halfway with water, add it to the toe part of your shoe, next put the shoe in the freezer overnight. This one works great when you are in a time crunch and don't want to parade around in your pajamas and heels.

Potato
Just like the freezer trick, if you peel a potato and leave it in your shoe overnight it will stretch your shoe out, make sure the potato isn't too small or large for your shoe.

Taking the time to break in your heels or any shoe really is worth the time and effort. Your feet will thank you in the end.
